My Story

Most of us know someone living with a disability. This year, I’m running the Great North Run to help support the work that makes life fairer and more inclusive for them.

I’m raising money for Disability Rights UK (DR UK), an organisation whose work connects closely with my PhD which looks at how professionals across health and social care can work together to better support disabled adults to be physically active and live well. Through this, I see just how important inclusion, advocacy, and joined-up support really are, and how much organisations like DR UK contribute to making positive change happen.

Physical activity also matters to me personally. It helps me look after my own mental health and wellbeing, so I can be there for my family, for my children, and stay focused on my research. I’m very aware that many people don’t have the same opportunities or support to be active, and that’s something that needs to change.

Running the Great North Run feels like a small way I can give something back. If you’re able to donate, I’d be incredibly grateful. And if not, sharing the page would mean so much too. Thank you for your support.
